1. I'm having trouble with my data cable.
Compatibility: If you are experiencing trouble with your Nokia data cable, the first thing to check is that your phone model and cable model are compatible from the Accessories section . Your cable model number should be printed on the cable or its packaging. Your phone model number is printed on a white label inside your phone. See example.
If your phone model is not listed as compatible with your cable model, please obtain a compatible cable and try again. Cable drivers: In order to use your cable to transfer data to a compatible PC, you need to install cable drivers on your PC.
1.Cable drivers for the Nokia Connectivity Cable DKU-2 and Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable CA-42 are included in the latest version of PC Suite software.
2. If your phone model or operating system is not compatible with the latest version of PC Suite, you can install the cable drivers separately from the cable's support pages: Nokia Connectivity Cable DKU-2 or Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable CA-42.
3. Cable drivers for the Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable DKU-5 are not included in PC Suite and need to be installed separately.
PC Suite: If you have the correct cable model, the correct cable drivers are installed, and you are experiencing trouble transferring data with PC Suite software, you may want to uninstall and reinstall PC Suite. You can find software to clean your register, installation instructions, and the correct version of PC Suite for your phone model and operating system from the PC Suite site.
PC drivers: Please also check that your compatible PC's USB drivers and BIOS are up to date.
2. What are the advantages of unlocking your phone?
When you purchase your phone many people are not aware that there is a good chance that your network provider has locked the handset to accept only SIM cards from its network.
For example if you purchased a handset that is locked to Vodafone it will not work with a SIM card from T-Mobile, O2 or Orange etc..
In many peoples opinion this is unfair. If you unlock your phone you can then change your SIM card to that of a different network provider. But why would you want to unlock your phone? I have listed the 4 main reasons below:
i) You may own more than one SIM card running on different networks, if you want to swap the SIM cards from time to time your phone must be unlocked.
ii) You may find your network is not as competitively priced as another and you would then need to put a different SIM card into the phone.
iii) If you are travelling overseas you may want to use your phone with a SIM card from that country to save yourself money.
iv) You may be looking to sell your old handset, in which case you will be able to sell it at a higher price and not have to worry if your potential buyers SIM card will be accepted by your handset.
