The  two  main  types  of  tooth  profile  for  synchronous  belts  are  trapezoidal  and  curvilinear.  
Trapezoidal timing  belts are  the  industry  standard  and  should  be  used  if  mating  with  a  trapezoidal  pulley  profile,  but  curvilinear  belts  have  some distinct  advantages  that  make  them  generally  more  desirable.

HTD type timing belt:
HTD (High Torque Drive) or conventional curvilinear teeth timing belt
Advantages  of  the  curvilinear  profile are  as:
  • Proportionally  deeper  tooth helps  prevent tooth  jumping.
  • Lighter  construction,  with  correspondingly  smaller  centrifugal loss.
  • Smaller  unit  pressure  on  the  tooth  since  area  of  contact  is larger.
  • Greater  shear  strength  due  to  larger  tooth  cross section.
  • Cheaper, since  a  narrower  belt  will  handle  the same load.
  • More  energy  efficient,  particularly  if  replacing  a  "V"  belt  drive, which  incurs  energy  losses  due to slippage.
  • Small  installation  tension  means light  bearing  loads.


Storage and Intallation Tips:
  • (1)To avoid bending or it will break.
  • (2)Not allowed to keep it in the bending state for a long period.
  • (3)Keep it in a cool place.
  • (4)When installing,shorten the center distance or loose tense gear and then reset.
  • (5)When installing, its line must be vertical to the side of gear.
  • (6)The main axle of positive gear and passive gear shall paraller at about tg?=1/1000, position of axle not precise, will effect life of use.
  • (7)If out of edge, adjust the second axle parallel or the second gear position of axle, and adjusrt the pressure of tension.
  • (8)If found it loose,should immediately check the center distance or more the position.
  • (9)When installing, tension is necessary according to its different specigication and models.
  • (10)Tension gear should be on the loose side of the belt when transmission.
