I have a silicon case for my mp3 player, an Insignia Pilot, that has a narrow cutout for earphone plugs which prevents earphones with wide bases from inserting all the way in and thus working properly. This adapter cable fixes the problem and it also matches nicely with my Pilot's black color scheme. I also had a five dollar coupon so there was no reason for me not to spend the measly $1.49. It's also a quality item since I don't hear any distortion or quality loss when I've got my earphones plugged into it. I've had this about a month now and it's still functioning properly although the wires on the base are already exposed. Even if it does break in the next month it's cheaply replaced. A very simple product that makes life just a little more convenient.
